About the Trainer
Availability
Due to educational obligations, my schedule is limited. Saturdays are open after 2pm and I'm available late afternoons, evenings, and some mornings on weekdays. Please bear with me as I further my behavior modification education. I do not do appointments, take calls, or respond to e-mails on Sunday.
You can reach me equally well by either phone or e-mail, but realize that I will not always answer my phone. However, I will return your call as soon as I am able. I check my e-mail throughout the day and respond as soon as I have sufficient time to give you a satisfactory reply. Please do not contact me on Sundays, as these are my days off.

Methods
The use of corrections, as typically done in dog training in the past, does not need to be the first solution in training and, in fact, can often cause more problems than it fixes. My methods are based on using the most humane, yet also effective and least risky, methods - methods which are also currently used with parenting and human behavior problems such as those associated with autism. I will motivate your dog to learn good behavior using those things which he or she loves most, rather than using force or intimidation.
If you would like to learn more about my methods, please visit the rest of my site, where you will find free information on training your dog. If you don't find what you need or need help implementing the information, feel free to e-mail me at the address below.
Background
As with most people in an animal career, I grew up with animals ranging from the usual to the somewhat unusual. I did a bit of training when I was younger, both at home and at the small local shelter, but I seriously started doing training when I arrived in Logan in 2003.
I have volunteered with many organizations since being in Logan, including Four Paws Rescue (a local no-kill animal rescue), Aggie Cats (USU's program to humanely control feral cat populations), the Cache Humane Society (another local animal rescue), and The Ferret Cubby (a small animal rescue). I also currently own three very intelligent pet rats.
My degree at Utah State University is in Psychology, with an emphasis in behavior modification. On top of this, I keep up with the latest scientific and dog training literature and correspond regularly with trainers throughout the world.
I'm married to a biologist at Utah State University who is very interested in, and knows a lot about, investing and other financial topics. If you're interested, visit his website at investordiy.com.
